Corrosion Simulation Using Cellular Automata (CA)
RPI, Team Leader
Achievements:
- Developed a CA model to mimic the corrosion (diffusions and chemical reactions) of molten salt to alloys
- Designed and developed a GUI for monitoring the corrosion process (thickness loss, roughness, and contents) in real time
- Provided input cards and keyboard interruptions to interact with the CA program (pause/resume, switch displaying modes, etc.)

Develop FitAPI for Nulcear Data Software SAMMY in C++
ORNL, Summer Intern
Achievements:
- Developed a fitting algorithm based on Bayes theory
- Implemented generalized Χ2 minimization based on Newton-Raphson and Monte Carlo methods
- Implemented Bayesian generalized data fitting using Monte-Carlo method
- Prototypes above have been ported into the FitAPI in modern SAMMY

Matrix Multiplication on Blue Gene/Q by MPI

Achievements:
- Implemented Cannon's algorithm for parallel matrix multiplication
- Computed matrix multiplication (up to 8192 X 8192) on BG/Q by applying different compute nodes (1 - 64)
- Programs possess strong scalability and ideal parallel efficiencies, with speedup ratio increasing from 1.00 to 70.94
- Evaluated different types of overheads and setting up Cartesian topology was found to contribute the most to the overhead
- Proposed Strip Algorithm performing 30% faster than Cannon's algorithm by reducing overheads

Motor vehicle collisions related to weather and COVID-19

Achievements:
- Studied the correlation between vehicle collisions and weather conditions, and the COVID-19 positivity rate in New York State.
- Created schemas, tables and databases for datasets of Vehicle Collisions, Climate, and COVID-19 testing in New York City
- Implemented an interface between a python application and a postgres database.
- Developed a User Interface to facilitate users' exploration and interaction with databases

Parallel Linear Regression Using Hadoop and MapReduce

- Performed data wraggling for crime and weather datasets such as data cleaning, combining, balance, and format conversion
- Computed weights of linear regression by training mapper and reducer
